Matru Sewa Sangh Sutika Gruha - Warora
During the second world war the Warora branch of Matru Sewa Sangh was established at the request of the people of Warora. The entire credit is ascribed to the renowned residents of Warora, Shri R. K Patil and Shri Amte Vakil. These two generous and noble gentlemen approached the President of Municipal Committee Warora, Raosaheb Abasaheb Deshpande, and obtained the approval of a grant of Rs. 300 and opened a Maternity Home in the women’s department in the premises of a Hospital in Warora. The Maternity Home of this branch received help from the doctors serving in the Government Hospitals. Under the presidency of Shri R. K. Patil this branch was inaugurated on 20/05/1945. In the early years in 1945 there were 6 deliveries of babies and this figure rose to 44 and 28 in the year 1945-46 and 1946-47 respectively. Along with Maternity and childbirth related issues the branch also works towards the overall health of women
With the establishment of this maternity home, facilities were available to the people of Warora and nearby villages, which proved to be a great blessing for them. Poor people who could not afford to pay high fees received all the facilities at a very low cost. The pregnant woman and her child received nutritious food, hygienic clothes, fresh bathing water, trained nurses, love, support and care. This is the only Sutika Gruha in Warora and is looked at with great respect and love by all.
The great noble soul Dr. Vikas Baba Amte was born here.
This branch was later expanded by Late Mrs. Usha Deshpande with equal love and care. The present president of this branch is Mrs. Suvarnarekha Patil and Secretary is Mrs. Shubhada Bhave.
