Matru Sewa Sangh Sutika Gruha - Hinganghat
The credit of establishing Hinganghat branch, one of the prosperous and growing cities in Central India goes to Dr. Mujumdar and Shrimant Seth Pukhrajaji Kochar. Kamlatai Hospet personally visited the city of Hinganghat and made a survey of the situation. Hinganghat Municipal Corporation donated the building which was built in their premises in the memory of Tulsabai Kochar. Seth Pukhrajaji spent Rs. 2000 to renovate the building and other generous donors of the city gave Rs. 3500. The branch had been receiving a donation of Rs. 20 every month for two years from Rambahadur Seth Bansilal Abirchand and Raibahadur Narsingdasji. The branch takes help of the local doctors. There is a scarcity of women doctors in this region. In 1944 for some days Mrs. Padyavatibai Thedgaonkar lent medical help every fortnight.
The branch was inaugurated on 6th February 1944 at the hands of Shrimati Durgatai, a social worker from Akola. Dr. Agashe and Dr. Mujumdar took the responsibility of providing medical help. This act gained confidence and trust of the residents of Hinganghat. The building could be constructed due to the help received by the government in the form of 9000 square feet land and Rs. 10,000 in addition to the donations received by several others. The branch celebrated its silver jubilee in 1971. On this occasion an operation theatre was built. The government gave permission to start a Family Counselling centre in the branch. This branch has a provision of 20 beds and around 300 to 335 babies are born yearly and 140 family planning operations are performed. This branch also provides facilities for health and overall development of mother and child care.
Another important person associated with this branch is Smt. Tarabai Paranjape, who worked hard for the institution with the support of Smt. Gangubai Agashe. Smt. Rukhmabai Singru, Smt. Shakuntala Kekatpure, Smt. Vimalbai Gharote and Smt. Vishakatai Kawle worked as president from 1944 to 2012 in various periods. Since 2012 smt. Padmatai Anil Pendharkar is serving as the President with equal excellence as her predecessors. From 1944 to 2013 in various periods Dr. N.H. Aghashe, Dr. Malhar Kawle and Dr. Shashirekha Dixit have worked as Medical Officer in the branch without taking any remuneration. After the retirement of Dr. Shashirekha Dixit in 2013, the hospital has been functioning with the help of part time doctors.
The maternity home has its updated operation theatre, in which other than minor operation, caesarean operations are conducted.
