The Akola branch was established in the year 1957 on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa under the guidance of Padmashree Kamlatai Hospet. Dr. Shri. Kakasaheb and Mrs. Janakibai Chaudhari played a prominent role in establishing this branch. Renowned people of Akola came forward to help in this noble cause. The branch received donations from generous people. The branch could construct its own building due to the donation received from Late Laxmibai Toshniwal. Mrs. Janakibai Chaudhari went door to door to collect donations for the Institute. The branch successfully and efficiently runs a maternity home, Family Planning Programme, Girls’ Hostel etc. Dr. Pramilatai Tople served as the first doctor and Kamlatai as the first attendant while Mrs. Kamlabai Sohoni worked as first president of the Akola Branch. From 1960 to 1995 Dr. Damyanti Shukl worked selflessly. It celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 1983. All major festivals, Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated with great fervor.

This branch has completed 64 years of its journey and has entered its 65^th year. The branch has its own building, hostel for working women and female students. The hostel has water cooler, water purifier and Sanitary Pad Machine.  The branch has a Garbhasanskar Kendra which recently completed 12 years.
