“Snehangan” school for Orthopedically Handicapped established on 5 th April 1981 by Late Smt. Usha Tai Sant and Late Dr. Vikram Marwah, Dean Govt. Medical College.
They had a strong feeling that students should not be deprived of their regular studies after operation i.e during post operative treatment .The concept of the school is “Bed – Side” education for the handicapped. The school permits admission only to physically handicapped and economically backward students.
This residential school offers facilities to physically challenged children for operation, post operation exercise along with well equipped physiotherapy center, hospital and residential facilities. School having classes from 1 st to 10 th std. The school is having recognition for 50 students and 15 student’s day scholar. The school gets Grant In Aid from State Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Maharashtra for 50 students .Honorary teachers also contribute in this school. Students of age group 6-18yrs take advantage of the same. Till date near about 1000 students have taken advantage of the same. The school takes special care by providing separate residence for boys and girls annexed to the class rooms which avoid inconvenience for these special students.Along with formal education the school also takes different projects like training in music, tabla, harmonium, drawing, computer, tailoring, embroidery, knitting, floral rangoli , making paper bags, rakhi making , greetings etc. After proper assessing student’s special interest, the special training is given to rehabilitate them and make them financially independent. The objectives of the projects are to make them self dependent. Thus providing it all under one roof.
The school conduct different activities like dance competition, sports competition along with cultural activities. The school also celebrates national festivals, Ganesh Utsav , World Handicapped Day , annual gathering etc. every year with great enthusiasm. Students also pay visit to various events held in society such as patriotic song, magic shows, drama and get chance to interact in the social activities. A yearly picnic, competitions, educational tour is planned. Students also participate at DSO level and State level sports competition. Regular health check up camp is also held in the school.
The school has achieved trophies in various singing competition held at district level in open group category such as Sane Guruji Geet Gayan Spardha, Vande Mataram Spardha, etc.

3. And various famous personalities like Vikram Gokhale, Ajit Kadkade, Vaishali Samant,

Nirmiti Sawant , Ketaki Mategaokar and many more to add . They all have appreciated the activities and the efforts taken by the school for the development and the upliftment of the students. The school is recommended as ‘A’ grade by the social welfare department.
The school is sincerely working towards the achievements since 41 years, for this Noble cause the grant is insufficient, so support from various levels of society including voluntary contribution involving physical support along with financial support is requested.
